Where to stay in Seminyak

Petitenget is the northern part of Seminyak, running up towards Batubelig and the border with Kerobokan. It holds many of the best-known beach clubs and a cluster of boutique and five-star hotels set back from a wide, grey-sand beach. Jalan Petitenget is lined with restaurants, bars and shops, and sunset draws crowds to the clubs along the sand. It is upmarket and can be pricey, and the beach here is for lounging and sunsets rather than swimming.

The Oberoi area centres on Jalan Kayu Aya, widely called Eat Street, which packs restaurants, cafes and boutiques into a walkable strip a short block back from the beach. It is the dining heart of Seminyak and puts a wide choice of food and shopping on foot. Hotels range from mid-range to luxury, many set down quiet gangs off the main road. Beach access is close, with a couple of well-known clubs at the western end.

The southern end of Seminyak runs down to Double Six Beach and the border with Legian, and it is livelier and generally cheaper than the Petitenget end. Seminyak Square and the surrounding streets hold shops, restaurants and mid-range hotels within walking distance of the sand. Double Six Beach is a popular spot for sunset drinks and beginner-friendly surf. It suits travellers who want Seminyak's dining and beach access without the top-end prices.
