Sanur is Bali's oldest beach resort, a calm, family-friendly stretch on the south-east coast facing the sunrise. A paved boardwalk runs for kilometres behind the reef-protected beach, linking the sands at Sanur and Mertasari with the seafront Le Mayeur museum, once a Belgian painter's home. The harbour here is the main fast-boat port for Nusa Penida and Lembongan. The flat, walkable seafront makes it easy to cover the main sights in a relaxed day.
