Wanagiri Hidden Hills is a run of bamboo photo platforms along the ridge road above Lake Buyan, in the Wanagiri area of Sukasada district, Buleleng. The view looks out over the Bedugul lakes,. It is a roadside attraction in the plainest sense: several local operators compete along the road, and each sells access to its own swings, nests and viewing platforms.
What is there
A February 2026 guide lists the features along the top of the hills: bamboo swings, human-sized bird nests, wooden teacups, lookout towers, the bow of a boat, wooden stars and treehouses. An April 2026 guide also mentions the heart-shaped wooden frames seen on Instagram. The viewpoint began as a few small roadside warungs where locals stopped for a meal and a coffee with a view. The warungs have since moved, and the bamboo structures now overlook Lake Buyan.
The lakes themselves are the real attraction. Buyan is the largest of the three lakes in the Bedugul caldera, at 490 hectares and up to 89 metres deep, with Tamblingan to the west and Beratan to the east. Between Buyan and Tamblingan runs about a kilometre of forest, with a small pool called Telaga Aya joined to Buyan by a narrow canal. Tamblingan lies in Munduk village, has 11 temples around it and, according to the Indonesian Wikipedia article, has not been developed for modern tourism, in order to protect the environment.
One guide sums the place up as tourist-heavy, but with solid views over both lakes. Expect crowds and sales pitches rather than a quiet lookout.
Prices and how the platforms work
Pricing is the weak point, and sources differ. A February 2026 guide gives Rp 20,000 to photograph the bamboo attractions. An April 2026 guide says that about half of the operators charge Rp 50,000 to stand on a platform. A 2024 guide found operators usually asking Rp 150,000 per swing or viewpoint, but obtained three activities for Rp 50,000 by negotiating, and gave a typical entry fee as from Rp 50,000, varying between operators. Use the April 2026 figure of around Rp 50,000 as a planning number and settle the price before you start.
The 2024 guide advises looking for the turn-off with a large sign reading “1 km this way”, which leads to the largest park in the area, with several swings including the largest one, plus nests, platforms and zip-lines. Operators compete for visitors along the main road coming from Bedugul, so expect to be flagged down.
Getting there and timing
From Canggu, Seminyak or Kuta the ride takes about 1.5 hours by scooter, and a private car with a driver is the alternative. Go early: the February 2026 guide says the earlier you go, the fewer people in your photograph. If you only want the view, stop at a pull-off without a platform. The April 2026 guide says that is free.
Wanagiri sits close to several stops on a north Bali day. Handara Gate is described as very close to the viewpoint. The entrance to Banyumala Twin Waterfall is about 10 minutes north of Wanagiri village, and a guide measures it at 2.7 km from Hidden Hills.
