About Bali Frontier

Bali Frontier is an independent travel guide to Bali. We are not a booking agent or a tour operator, and we are not trying to sell you a dream. The aim is simpler: to tell you, plainly and from solid research, which sights earn the trip, where to base yourself, how to get around, and what something is honestly like before you give it a morning of your holiday.

Bali is wonderful and Bali is busy, often in the same place at the same time. A guide is only useful if it tells you both halves of that. So we write about the crowds, the entrance gates and the long drives as readily as the temples and the rice terraces, and we would rather send you to the quieter, better thing than repeat the same ten photo stops as everyone else.

Who writes Bali Frontier

Two writers cover the island, each in their own lane, so that every page is written by someone who actually knows the subject.

How we research

Every guide is checked against official, first-party sources: Indonesian and Bali tourism bodies, the temples, venues and operators themselves, and the local transport and visa authorities. We cross-reference each page with current, on-the-ground knowledge of the island, and we update pages as things change.

  • Facts verified against first-party sources, never invented or padded
  • Prices and opening hours kept general, because they change; we point you to the official source for the figure
  • Honest cons on every page, because a guide that likes everything is no guide at all
  • Cultural respect comes first: Bali is a living Hindu island, not a backdrop

A note on honesty

Our bylines are real editorial voices with real areas of expertise, and our research is genuine. We do not pretend to have stood on every clifftop at dawn, and we will not invent a price, a quote or a personal anecdote to make a page sound lived-in. If we are not sure, we say so.

Affiliate disclosure

Some links on this site are affiliate links, mainly to tour and booking partners such as Viator. If you book through one of them, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. It helps keep these guides free and independent. A commission never buys a better review: we recommend the same things we would recommend without it, and we say plainly when something is not worth your money.
